Fate / Another UFW Ver 2.5



System Changes

  • AI Lancer's logic has been improved on many different aspects
  • Game Mode - Extra is set to default
  • Game Mode - Free is set to default
  • Random Selection for Game Mode - Free will now only appear when players are able to summon the servants manually


Balance Changes

  • Berserker (4th)

    • Nine Lives (Knight of Honor)'s mana has been reduced from 600/550/500 to 500/450/400


  • Assassin (5th)

    • Animation cast-point has been decreased from 0.3 to 0.28 (All spells have faster animation)
    • Heart of Harmony's cast animation has been removed
    • Splash AOE of Tsubamegaeshi from Attribute - Shore Willow (Ganryu) has been increased from 350 to 400


  • Rider (4th)

    • Attribute - Improved Ionion Hetairoi no longer increases the melee damage of armies summoned in Army of the King
    • Focus Fire no longer reduces target's armor with Attribute - Improved Ionion Hetairoi




Miscellaneous Changes

  • Map has been partially translated (100% of triggers, 65% of objects). List of translated servants are below:

    • Saber (5th) -> 100%
    • Archer (5th) -> 100%
    • Lancer (5th) -> 100%
    • Assassin (5th) -> 100%
    • Berserker (5th) -> 100%
    • Saber Alter -> 100%
    • Lancer (4th, Zero Lancer) -> 100%

    • Archer (Extra, Robin) -> 95%

Patch Rationale

The main objective of this patch was to greatly improve AI Lancer's logic. More specifically, the following aspects were improved:


  • Seal usage & management
  • More event responses
  • Item usage
  • Gods Help usage
  • Gold Distribution
  • Retreat Logic
  • Decision factor on engagement (Ex: VS. Saber's Avalon, tanks with A scroll on)


We still have a long way to go to make the AI behave as good as a typical player, but it should nonetheless be more formidable than before.

With that, we decided not to touch on the balance too much. It is pretty apparent that Iskander's marble is excessively strong, giving the enemy players little option to counter it inside. However, our main concern with Iskander is that he doesn't have much option outside his marble, specifically with his Military Tactics (Q), Spatha (W) and Via Expugnatio (E). Our long term goal is to improve his fighting capability with W,E and improve the utility of Q but we haven't ironed out all of the details yet so we're applying a temporary fix on his marble for now.

With Assassin (5th)'s new mechanics, players have an intricate challenge of mixing melee attacks in between the spells. To lessen this burden, we decided to make the general spell animation quicker, so that he feels a lot smoother to play. More importantly, the animation was removed altogether on Heart of Harmony (W), as this is the bread and butter for Assassin's much needed additional damage towards the late game. We also decided to increase Ganryu AOE a bit, as we've actually been observing Assassin players land less AOE damage ever since the AOE enumeration type was changed from circle to line base (See 2.4 patch log).

We're also rolling back the Lancelot's nine mana cost to its original state (this was a remnant of 3.0J patch). You may ask, did Lancelot really need a buff? Absolutely not. But it is our opinion that increasing mana cost at the cost of playability (Lancelot is already a ridiculously mana dependent hero) is possibly the worst choice you can make for a patch. Considering he had his Gae Dearg taken away for Caliburn (we support this decision by the way), that itself is a good enough nerf on Lancelot for now. Don't get us wrong, we're eventually going to focus on his balance when the appropriate time comes but for time being, we will leave him as is.
